I am on my sixth Lund boat, and recently got into an argument with my dad regarding the type of plywood Lund uses for their floors and decks. I know Lund has a lifetime warranty to the original owner and I have never had any issues to date .My Dad insists that Lund has to use marine or pressure treated plywood.
The general consensus is plywood or aluminum screwed down for cost and weight. Changing the floor thickness may alter the fit of other installed components. My new Lund floor is going to be 5/8″ marine plywood, sealed on all sides with a concoction of mineral spirits, linseed oil and spar varnish know as “old timers formula” .

Given sufficient time and use it may be that the protective fibreglass layer becomes damaged allowing water to permeate the surface and begin to rot the underlying plywood. Lund uses a nylock nut on each bolt and I do not know how they get into some of the places. I ended up drilling or grinding the heads off some of them. I contacted Lund and they were of no help what so ever on anything. Cutting you plywood you will have to pre fit it a couple of times and allow at least 1/4 for the new carpet.

Talking about bracing, I have seen at least 10 of these boats that have a dip in the top deck about two feet forward of where the deck ends at the dash. If you lay a level along the non skid, start at the dash and lay towards the deck you will see a dip, I would guess that yours is dipping as well, I had a 1/4inch plus dip in mine.

I have spent weeks looking for an easy floor idea for our jon boat when the answer was really pretty easy. Most of what I came up with was marine plywood which is water resistant but it was extremely heavy and I wanted something that I could easily take out to clean out the bottom of the boat and to let the floor dry up and not start growing mold like what would happen in a permanent floor.
